Concerto progress

I think I finally got past my composer’s block on my piano concerto. It’s still slow-going: I have 45 seconds more to show you since last time. Still, here is the current third movement. I plan to keep it low tension for another thirty seconds or so, then build to a quick climax and calm back down again for the main low tension section. From there, we’ll see where it goes. Feedback welcome.

  1. This sounds like Star Wars meets Benny Hill to me. That isn’t to say that it isn’t good, or that I don’t like it. It does feel a little overly structured. Are you experimenting with contrasting moods? You seem to have a dramatic theme played by the other instruments, especially violin and flute, contrasted with the piano.

Juxtaposing these two themes, the dramatic and the genki(Japanese: cheerful, energetic, and somewhat annoying), is an interesting approach. However, you seem to be doing a double justaposition here by juxtaposing the difference between the two themes with the sameness of the structure. I think that what this piece needs is more spontaneity.

    Keep up the good work!

  2. I started to think of some codes to prevent spam, I will be implemented them once I finished. Since, the method you learnt from Kim’s blog doesn’t quite work. I might be upgrading the wp-comments “plugin” by removing comments with the same
contents as well as anything I would come up with.
I wish you don’t be discouraged with such spams. You can direct them to my blog. :-)
